Can anyone guide me to where the 32 pin connector is within the steering wheel column and how to access the connector?  Specifically, I need to access Pin B31.

Many thanks.  These forums are a great resource.

Once you pull off the lower dash, you'll see a u shaped piece of metal held in by 4 10mm bolts.  Take that out and look straight back.  That's where the harness you're looking for is.  can't miss it.

Thanks cntrylvr79 - that was perfect advice.  For anyone else that reads this you should note that a deep socket will make the job much easier - the 10mm bolts are tough to get at and a regular socket may not do the job.

So, I found pin B31 and attached the green wire from the SWI-ALP as stated in the instructions.  I also attached red to switched 12v and black to ground.  And I cut the brown wire.  But, I cannot get this thing into programming mode.  I see a voltage adjustment at the SWI-ALP green wire when the sterring wheel controls were pushed, I verified the SWI-ALP was attached to the Alpine head unit, and I verified that the red wire was getting 12V switched.  And, the brown wire is definitely cut and insulated.

When I push the mode button and turn the ignition on the light illuminates and then when I release themode button the light goes out.  But, nothing happens after that no matter what I do.  When I turn the ignition on and off (without pushing the mode button) the light flashes twice - I guess meaning it is in version #2.  I cannot figure out how to get it to flash only once as required for GM SUVs.

So far I have not adjusted the radio switch -it is still set to 0.

The PAC  instructions are not too helpful https://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming/showstepbystep.asp?RadioGroupPioneer=0&InterfaceChecked=2&mmSearch=GMC&Submit2=Search+Vehicles&ID=262

Any further guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Press and hold the mode button, turn the ignition on, release the mode button till the light goes out, then press the mode button again once and release it, wait a few seconds and it wil flash repeatedly for a second then flash once.  turn the ignition off then back on and verify it is flashing once, you are missing the release then press it again step.  I believe Alpine should be set to number one on the dial.  What head unit are you installing it in?  If it is a 310 or a w200 you may need some other info that could affect the steering wheel controls,,,,

Appreciate the advice Ctoh.  I turned the radio switch to 1 and then retried everything.  It all worked perfectly.  The SWI-ALP is excellent - all controls from the Yukon work perfectly.  Thanks to everyone for helping me out with this.
