I've been searching everywhere for the last couple days on something that definitively explains how to properly calculate the best subsonic filter frequency for a ported enclosure and subwoofer.

I searched here, BCAE, google, and every other car audio forum I could find and came up empty handed.

The subwoofer I would like to use as an example is the JL 6W0-4 in JL's recommended ported enclosure.

Driver and enclosure specs here... LINK

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Set your subsonic filter at or just below your port tuning frequency.

DYohn is right, of course.

If you want to see how a subsonic filter affects excursion and frequency response, they can be modeled in WinISD.
