im trying to put a new unit in my 88 caddy. the factory harness was cut. i identified all my wires, not sure where the dimmer wire goes. i tried hooking it up w/o it and got nothing.please help :))

According to the info on this forum, the dimmer wire for '88 Caddy's will be the brown wire.

Yay bestbuy brand. Leave it disconnected. The insignia doesn't have a wire for the dimmer to hook up to.
