What are some good choices for 6x9 speakers that are only going to be powered off of an aftermarket CD Reciever?

I guess I am just looking for some good "bang for the buck" 6x9 speakers that are not going to be powered by an amp. I am looking for speakers in the mid-priced and slightly higher range.

I suggest you go somewhere were you can listen to several different brands they all sound different, take some of your own music in to play.  Most shops are running them off of head unit power so it will be a good comparison for ya.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

No they wouldn't. They don't have chrome, flames or led's in them and we all know that that is what makes a good piece of equipment these days........

After searching through many posts on this site, I have decided that 6.5's would be a better choice than 6x9's. I have read nothing but great reviews of the polk audio db650 and that is probably what I will end up getting. Should I use MDF board to make adapters and how thick?
