I have a 2003 Chevrolet Impala and there is a cd stuck in the player. It does not acknowledge that anything is even in the cd player. Is there a reset button to release the cd, or any way to remove the cd while keeping the cd player functional without paying the dealer $300 and some odd dollars for the replacement radio?

if i do take the radio apart, will the cd player still be functional?

so lets pretend i take apart the unit and in the process nothing else gets touched/broke...but the cd player somehow breaks, everything else should remain functional shouldn't it? If i maybe wanted to add an fm modulated changer?

disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes and reconnect it, then try to eject the disc... it may come out and work fine after that... sometimes they just develop a software bug or logic problem... what does it cost to at least try this?? ------------- Kevin Gerry

I installed the fm switching unit for an FM modulated cd changer and I had the battery disconnected for about 30-45 mintues and when I hooked it all back up it still would not eject. I have noticed that the radio gets really warm, almost hot sometimes, even if the weather is mild. I am just wondering if something inside the unit melted or something? One of these days I am going to try to take the unit apart to retrieve the cd, but since I have a cd changer I am not so concerned at this point.

a couple of days after i tried to eject it after disconnecting the battery, i tried the eject button again and it made a funny noise like it was trying to eject...i stuck a knife in the opening and pushed back one of the silver colored rollers. it started making a loud obnoxious noise, so i pushed power, pushed power again and it had stopped. i pushed eject one more time and it actually pushed the cd out about an 1/8 of an inch, i grabbed some needlenoses and pulled the cd out successfully. now the player works like nothing ever happened to it. thanks guys!
