i think i may have a problem. i tried hardwireing my radar detector to my car. i tapped the positive off a wire which i thought was my ignition wire. its pink and black. its 12V switched. i have a 92 firebird(Gm). it works when i turn the key in the igntion . but after like 10 or so minutes of driving my car stops dead in the road. this has happened 3 times so far. but then after a little while it was start up again. like 30 minutes or so. when i try to start it its like the fuel line is cut off. no gas is being let in. almost like its a VAT problem. but it is not cuz there would be a light on the dash that said security or somethign in my car. i have a clifford matrix rs alarm with remote start. i had that done proffessionly. ive never had a problem until this radar detector. i was thinking maybe the alram sensed a change in voltage after a while and shut the car off? i have no clue whats wrong. can anyone give me insite as to whether or not the radar detector could do anything. or maybe its jsut a coincidence and the car really is breaking down. thank you.
Try wiring the radar detector directly to the back of the cigarette lighter. No fuss, no muss, and you know you've got guarenteed voltage
