So, apparently I'm the guy that does all the research for the local car stereo shop...
One of the Installers said that he heard a guy talking about training his batteries for a competition. The installer had never heard of such and asked me to look into it. From some of the research that I've done on batteries, it seems possible, but I'd rather hear from some of you that have extensive experience with batteries before I put faith into this idea. I know that different materials and different amounts in variation affect the voltage of a battery, but I'm not sure that maintaining a higher voltage on a battery for an extended amount of time will force the voltage to remain higher after the higher voltage charging system is removed. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I train my batteries with a whip and a chair.

No, you cannot force a lead-acid battery to maintain a higher voltage than it was designed to maintain.

It depends alot on the type of battery. Like dyohn said not lead acid...but Gel, or sealed type batteries can be trained.

What type of batteries are you guys planning on running or do you currently have

nice...I like the whip and chain idea. I don't think I'll have any trouble training my batteries like that...lol.

I'm not sure what kind of batteries they are trying to run. I'm just going to run 12 volt lead acid batteries...I'm really not all too concerned with whether they'll maintain a higher voltage since I'm only entering into MECA's street level. I'm doing this research out of pure curiosity...I guess knowing more than the local car stereo shop would be another drive...lol.

So, why is it that a gel battery would work, but not the lead acid?
