Hi,
I have a basic setup...pair of RCA's going to the amp in the trunk for one subwoofer. I was curious to know if I can install a switch to turn the subwoofer on/off. Can I put a switch inline with the amp's remote wire? Hmmm....can I put a switch inline with the subwoofer's negative wire?...which would still leave the amp on of course. What I would really love to have is a dial control to control the level of the sub. I know they have HUs that have that control, but mine's older. And yes, I did adjust the levels on the amp, but sometimes they're too much, and I just want the sub lower.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
yes a switch on either will do but if you want to adjust sub level buy a deck with adjustable sub out youn can find one used cheap
you need to either put a switch on you remote wire or use a remote subwoofer control that conects to the subs rca cable such as this one

I installed a switch for my amp, cap and subs. I just ran the remote wire off the back of my Deck to a toggle switch that I mounted and repinted in my Cigaretee lighter spot and ran the wire to theamp Turnon where the cap turn on is. It works great because the cops always pull people over for excessive noise because the town has a noise ordinance so If I see a cop I just flick the switch and no more Low Low BASS.

Has anyone used the switch that bberman1 mentioned?....I think it would be cool to control the sub's level (since my head unit doesn't have that), but does this item you mentioned decrease the quality of the signal?
They work very well here is one by PAC
https://www.go2pac.com/products/lc.htm if you want to connect it to RCA cables use the top one LC-1
hey, that one's pretty cool. Before I used to have a speaker output to rca cable converter to convert the signal from my (crappy) equalizer so it would go to my amp. I got rid of the LineOutConverter and the EQ, though, and reallized they were killing my quality. Just wanted to make sure this would kill the quality. I guess they don't sell from their website, huh?....you have to find a retailer?
