I have a ma audio hk4000d amplifier and i am going to use it to power a 18" kicker solox    ( DVC 5000watt rms,10000watt peak) I am putting it in a 1969 dodge charger and it only has a 60 amp alternator so i have to upgrade it, but i don't know what size is needed. i might want to run 2 alt. 1 for standard funct. (12 volt, 60 amp the stock one) and another one seperate from the car, only connected to stereo and 16 volts. i need to know exactly what i need to power it meaning power wire size, speaker wire size, capacitor size, minimum battery size, alternator size, etc.  you know what i'm talking about

Thanks, John

16 volts?  Does your MA Audio amp handle 16 volts?  I say get thee to a car audio shop for help.

The hk4000d is has an unregulated power supply it can be ran at 14.4 v = 3600 watt rms or 17v = 4000 watts rms, etc.

If you are planning to compete, then sure go for a seperate electrical system for your sound system as you will want to squeeze every fractional db you can.  If you are not planning to compete, the cost will likely far outweigh any benefits.
