Subject: Two Head Units?

Hi am new to these forums but have known about the site for quite awhile and it seems to have some amazingly smart members.
I have come up with an idea brought on by my search for SQ and lack of funds. I am 14 and do not yet have a steady job, so i do not have the money to buy processors, seperate amplifiers for my speakers and such. I do happen to have two Head Units : A JVC KDG-310 and also an Old school Pioneer DEH-550H with 7 band eq made in 1995.
I bought the JVC to replace the Pioneer because it had stopped playing Cd's. Now the sound quality of the Pioneer is much higher than the entry level JVC and I was wondering if it would beneficial if I used the JVC as a source and ran the signal to the Pioneer via the aux input , using the pioneer to power my speakers. Thus allowing me to also use the Equalizer.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No, I can't recomend this.  For now, just use one of the HUs and save your money for a better one down the road.  Besides whose car is this in, you say you are 14 so I assume you are not driving yet?

Wouldnt hooking the JVC  to the input on the Pioneer and just using it as a Cs player be better than hooking a mp3 player to it?

What's wrongwith running 2 decks?  I've got an avic-d1 and an alpine 9855 for the same reason.

Well, I choose the alternative from DYohn's answer. However, you might just be creating a monster at the same time. Do you or will you have room to mount both cd players? Is the risk of radiated noise greater? (yes). There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you want to do. Use the front out on the JVC to the line in on the Pioneer. Chances are that what you may be hearing is the eq function of the Pioneer and perhaps a larger built in amplifier. That said, it's going to be 2 years before you can really use your equipment on your own (and even that is a scary thought). Best bet is to sell it off to a friend and pocket the loot. Build up some $ over the next 2 years, both for a car and a system to go in it.

Most ppl under estimate me because im 14. Im not just a teenager that wants booming bass and no SQ. Of course i went through the ricer stage with stock speakers and 15" subs, but thank god ive been out of that for quite awhile.  I have installed multiple systems in my dads vehicles and mine. I have a 83 S15 that has had 3 diff H.U.s in it, 6 different subs , 3 different amps ,and 3 different sets of speakers. I can fiberglass, do bodywork, paint, and lots of other stuff.  I was planning to build a mdf bracket in the glove box for the pioneer. I am going to hook up the pioneer to see how it sounds, and if its sounds like i think it might  it will be installed. The reason I have no money to buy a new HU is because i am  redoing the interior and exterior of the truck wich is taking quite a bit of money.

Well here in Alberta at 14 you can get your leaners and drive with someone that has a full license. At 16 you get a probationary license, wich means you can drive by yourself but not after midnight untill 5am. When you turn 18 you get your full license.

i, too, have a 9855. great HU, huh?

YEah I like it, took a bit to get used to the glide touch.  The tone controls, and time correction are so nice too.

Well I tried it, and it would have been awsome except for the extra hissing (rf noise or w/e its called). Having an EQ was awsome, so i guess i have to buy an amp and eq or a hu with eq in it.

Thats part of the hobby, saving $$$ to get what you want.  If you cant do it right, dont do it at all.  Ive built several custom cars and if I had the money to do everything at once there would be no fun in it.    Save, save, save, buy, enjoy, sell, redo.  When I was your age I was so damn anxious to get stuff done but now I enjoy taking my time to come up with better ideas than "spur of the moment".
