I have a 92 VW Golf, and I am taking out the factory radio and installing a 2000 GTI Monsoon (single Din) radio in my lower dash. I am running into problems, I thought I had the correct wiring done but I am having issues with it, the in dash cd player/changer unit isn't comming on but the radio is, and the radio lights up and works. Im stumped can someone give me a diagram on the wiring for the 2000 GTI Monsoon single din radio so I can figure out if I wired something wrong.
This would be helpful if you could email it to, mzsasy1@yahoo.com Thank you to anyone who can help me in advance!
This radio is amplified but it has a built in amp. Heres the thing this radio is identical to the factory radios in the MK III's except this one is from an MK IV and the only difference they have is that the one I have lights up red and the older ones light up green.
It has a plug from the back of the radio that connects directly to the cd change/player, but when the radio is on and working and the cd player is supposed to be on, i am getting no sound. Am I missing something? I think this is why I need a wiring diagram to make sure I'm not missing a plug or something off this factory radio that goes to the cd changer.
I'm pretty sure that ALL 4th generation VW's with the Monsoon option have a trunk mounted amplifier. I KNOW that the double-dins do for sure.
Check out
VWvortex for some extra help if you can't figure it out.

yeah but this has a built in amp in the radio, and its a single din, whats happening is this radio is working, when you hit "cd" to change the mode from the radio to cd changer it says "no changer" but yet the changer is plugged into the back fo the head unit I must be missing a connection somewhere which is why I was looking for a wiring diagram of some sort of this actual head unit & changer

You know...that's the wierd thing. My buddy has an 01 Jetta w/Monsoon...but no amp under rear deck. It's the only one I've seen. My son has had two Jettas and both had the external amp. My friend got his as a loss leader for like 15K brand new...maybe it was made specifically to be a "cheaper" Jetta.
Edit =============
Just thinking...this was a bit out of place...maybe should have started a new thread LOL. Sorry bout that.
