I put in a deck today (DEHP6800MP) the noisy one I took out of the Honda I last posted on. I used a metra harness# 70-1771 This adapter has NO amp turn on. I know that there are ways of integrating the factory amp (so the factory sub will play, Sub ONLY) But I have no idea how to do what the customer desires. I am satisfied with the bass from the pioneer head....but the customer asks..."did you make the sub work" I did not put my head in the rear of the Explorer to verify the sub was, or, was not working.....it sounded great.

Do I need to use a 70-5700? the factory radio has 3 plugs, all rectangle in shape (none of the stadard ford plugs like on a 70-1770)

Any GOOD thoughts?

P.S. in this business for YEARS.....and right now I feel stupid...:errr:

Does this scosche part# put power from the factory amp to ALL speakers, or just the sub. I have never been a fan of "overdriving" the factory amp on the factory mids. This looks like it put's deck power, on top of factory amp power, to all the speakers. You know, turn the volume knob to 5, and be killing the speakers.....  Am I over analyzing this.......? and YES I still feel stupid.posted_image

I believe Metra's model 70-5517 should do the trick.

This is the part # that Matt @ metra gave me. My complaint was, on line, the ONLY harness adapter they give reference to is the 70-1771. Thanks for the input gentlemen......posted_image

The last one of those I remember using the Metra equivalent of that Scosche (probably the referenced 5517), and wired rca ends to the sub harness. The harness comes with instructions as to which pins to use for which years. I didn't have any problems with clipping the factory amp- I think the amp was for sub only. Yes Metra's site does suck.

The first harness I bought for my 98 explorer didn't match the factory connectors...went back and got the right one...but then that one was missing the front left negative wire (after connecting all of the other wires...arghh!!!!)

Drove back to the shop and exchanged it for a new one and finally got my deck hooked up.

Take it back...maybe it is just missing a wire...mine was
