I just installed a ANL 200A fuse from the battery to the trunk, the stereo shop guy said thats what i neede, i have a Directed 1100D and a Directed 4200 in my mustang, will that many amps on the fuse affect sound quality at all? I used to have a 60A glass fuse before it was melted in the housing due to header heat (been taken care of)

no the fuse just protects your amp from a short. it has no affect on SQ

so should i add a fused distrubution block for the amps or will i be ok with the non fused distribution block and the fuses on the amp???

Its always a good idea to have fuses wherever you can...but its not completely necessary...

A fuse should be used anytime wire size decreases. The fuse should be rated at the capacity of the wire downstream from it, or if only one fuse is used it must be sized for the limit of the smallest wire. So, yes it is a good idea if you use large wire (with a fuse at the battery) feeding a distribution block with smaller wire coming out of the block to use a fused block with fuses sized for the smaller wire, or to add fuses to the smaller wires just after the block. And no, power fuses will not affect sound quality. ------------- Support the12volt.com

So if I have 0 gauge wire from my battery that has a fuse on it goig to a distribution block, then have 4 gauge wire going to each amp do I need a fuse on each 4 gauge wire?
