i have a pretty small sub, not that small but the amp overpowers it. will my sub blow?

Overpowering any speaker will blow that speaker.

well it depends on the type of power goin to the sub, if there is alot of distortion then your sub will blow, turn down your bass boost and gain until the sub doesnt clip. i would suggest either getting a smaller amp or a bigger subwoofer.
