1200 watts isnt too big of a load on a 2001 Altima...Upgrade your Big Three and your problem should be fixed...

I agree with cloak. The Big 3 will be a minimal cost and may eliminate the need for the alternator...as well as the cap. The cap will NOT prevent your lights from dimming or help out your electrical system. That's not what it is designed for. Do a search on caps and you will find some good reading.

caps will help but only if the charging system and wiring cna keep up. They are not a good place to start though.

Future upgrades may put him in that position...but it may not. Why have him spend the money on a high output alternator if it isn't needed? Even with future upgrades...what are his future objectives? Pushing to get an alternator at this point, I think, is putting the cart before the horse.

Starting with the big 3 is very logical...If your going to get an HO alternator you will need to upgrade you big 3 anyway. So why not start with it and see if it fixes the problem...

Just my .02. Upgrade your wiring ie "the big 3" see were you stand (lights dimming anymore) than proceed with purchasing the ho alterantor.

yeah, i know, but you guys forgot he's using only 1 amp, what if he want to put another amp for the speakers?
I mean i have nothing against the big 3 he has to do it if he go with an HO Alt like Cloak said, but if i was him and i have the money i'll check an HO Alt. now, and already save that part for the future, beside it won't do any harm to his car electrical system. just my 2 cents.

It won't do any harm but it may not solve the problem he posted with , dimming lights. By upgrading the big three this will more than likely correct that problem. If just to add  the ho alt. to the equation without upgrading the wiring may not have any affect at all. That is why the starting point should be to make sure the the big 3 are upgraded prior to installing an ho alt.

well i'm kinda a noob, but n e ways the local radio shop says my amp is power hungary and it originally call with 150 amp fuses (inline) and i think in the amp alsoi knkow that when crank it up, my transmission lags, lights dim, and rpm drop

I believe that amp is capable of pulling 150 amps, just not always, only during certain musical peaks. big 3, then an alternator.

However a lagging transmission is some thing I have nevert heard of! That's mighty bizarre.
