Ok so i have this orion amp HCCA-D2400 and the protection light turns on every now and then. It blinks like six times or so and the manual says thats an overcurrent protection issue. The other half of the time though the amp works fine. I have 4 gauge power and ground from each respective distribution blocks. I really think the amp is messed cause my 4 channel JL works just fine.
Any ideas?
How do you have your gains set? What subs are you running from it (make/model) and how do you have them wired?

You're rated at 1200x1@1ohm, 800x1@2ohms and 425x1@4ohms. So at least the amp appears to be 1ohm stable. It sounds like you've got your gains set too high. Try lowering them and see if it helps.

JL Audio 10W6 DVC wired in parallel down to 2 ohms and then the amp is internally wired in parallel to which brings it down to 1ohm. Not positive where the gains are set cause my friend did that, but not sure that would be the problem. It has only once cut out WHILE already operating.
I believe the D2400 is actually rated at 1200
watt@4 ohm, and 2400 @2ohm, yes it will go to 1 ohm. Last of the real Orions. The amp will draw 250 amps of current maxed out. The signal your geting is probably undercurrent, and if your not running a second battery and are pushing the amp, you can exspect that result.
d2400 is 1200w rms at 1ohm 2400w MAX at 1 ohm.

You are correct.....the code i am getting is overcurrent. Im thinking the amp is just messed up from the factory....
