Greetings -

I have a set of MB Quart component speakers that I just installed (well, half the set at least - and after reading here you will understand why)....

To start off with, I have a set of component MB Quarts in another vehicle so I do have a little experience with them.  Here is what is happening...  After connecting the crossover to the output of the radio, then to both the midrange/midbase (here on out refered to as MRB) and tweeter, I am getting midrange frequencies out of both the tweeter and MRB. I am getting no highs out of the tweeter.

This sounds to me like it is a bad crossover, but I'm hoping maybe I overlooked something.

I did double/tripple/quadruple check my wiring and input is connected to HU, out HI is going to tweeter, and out low to MRB.

Also, I know when using a passive crossover such as the ones that come with MBQuart there is a reduction in volume due to a loss in power going to the speakers, however, there is a SIGNIFICANT loss in volume that I would say is more than double what it was on the components that I have in my other vehicle.

So, is this a bad crossover, or is there something else I can look at?

Many thanks in advance to all the experts out there!

Kevin

Did you try the other crossover in the set?  If it sounds fine then yes, the initial crossover is bad.  If both sound the same it is unlikely that both are bad and then I would suspect something in your setup.  You didn't use factory wiring to the tweeter by chance did you?

I just thought about that today - no I havent done that yet - I should have time tomorrow to pull the door back apart and try the other.

As for wiring, no, I used monster cable - I figured if I was going to spend the money on a high end HU and high end speakers, I might as well use good wiring too - after all, it is only as good as your weakest link!!

I'll reply back tomorrow after I tear back into the door and give my findings...  Cross your fingers!!!
