What makes a Pioneer Premere?

I am in the market for a high end CD player, I am looking at a couple different brand and models right now. So I come for some good insite. I am actually looking at these models:

Pioneer Premere DEH-P980BT

Pionere DEH-P9800BT

So now my question is this. What actually makes the Pioneer Premere different then the Regular Pioneer. They seem to be very similar?
Also what model would you get out of the 3?

i would go with the eclipse as you get more features and better quality of music, i have looked into pioneer premere and i havnt found anything different about the headunits besides they say premere. the premere subs are better quality and more powerful then the regulars. i dont know really anything different about the headunits

If you want a high-end CD head unit, forget the Pioneer. For SIGNIFICANTLY less money than a real high-end Pioneer would cost (the good ones are a LOT more than $550, and even those don't have the SQ of the Eclipse), you can buy the CD5000 you listed.

The Pioneers also ALL have odd ground plane issues, and even with the Premiere units, there is FAR more chance of noise entering your system that you could ever have with the Eclipse.

I'm a Pioneer dealer and I agree, go with the Eclipse.

I've read in other forums, I don't remember wich ones right now, but the premiers' only difference is the warranty is loger, and it costs a bit more, that's about it.

But, I am with djcustomz, I have the deh-p9600mp, and I love it for the same reasons he stated, and I also love the auto sound alignment it has because it limits tremendously the amount of tweaking you have to do once you run it.

In general, the Premiere brand by Pioneer has additional features and enhanced performance (such as higher pre-out voltages) and better warranties than their standard Pioneer brand. Their "Premiere" line is to car audio what their "Elite" line is to home audio.

^^^^ ding ding we have a winner, DYohn gets the cookie. The overall build of the cd player is no different. The options it has is. A higher preout voltage is one thing, better warranty is the other. Eclipse will still offer a superior product (I sell both lines) and that is where I would go for a good cd player.

In addition Pioneer DEH-P980BT has 100db CD signal to noise ratio and DEH-P9800BT has 98db. Eclipse CD5000 has 95db. Depending on how the HU will be used, there are more features on Pioneer than Eclipse for the money.
If no amp is used I would go with Pioneer Premier, it has a 22x4w rms compared to Eclipses 14x4w rms. You need to decide what is more important for you in an HU.
Each brand will have pros. and cons.
