I have an 05 Silverado, no onstar.. a 24 pin at the factory deck.. no 12 pin.. my questioin is, what is the best harness to use... Metra has a 71-2003-1 r a GMRC 01.. what does it matter without on star as to what harness to use... I heard you lose the door chime??? anyone got some info on this...

The GMRC-01 is the better choice. It replaces the radio and has a built in speaker to take care of the chimes. The 71-2003-1 is designed to relocate the radio elsewhere in the truck. Good luck finding enough room for that. You would still have to add a speaker to hear the chimes.
