Dear All Is it possible to install an on-off switch and / or volume for a car sub I would like to install one which I can control in this way from the drivers seat. If it is possible how would I do it and what would I need? I would really love any help with this question which I have not found an answer to. Thanks Jonathan

Just put a switch onto the remote turn on lead on the amplifier. This will turn off/on the sub when ever you want.

Agreed, that is the way to go. I've run toggles to my amps in my last 3 cars. There's a large variety to choose from, lighted/unlighted, round/rectangular, tall, short, toggle/button, etc. Just go to your local auto parts store and check them out. ------------- Squirrel

Unfortunately I've never done a DIY "remote volume control". The closest I've done is using the "remote bass" feature that is present on some amplifiers. This allows you to add a certain decible increase/decrease by using the control. Unfortunately it's not available on all amplifiers. ------------- Squirrel

There are some knobs that go inline on the rca's, which would allow you to turn down the signal to the amp.

L-pads. Problem is, they don't handle a whole hell of a lot of power. 150 wrms for a good one.

You don't want to use an L-Pad but you can go to radio shack and buy part number 271-1732 and a knob and a box to put it in and an RCA cable long enough to go from your radio to your amp and I can tell you how to wire it up to be able to control your volume of the sub amp

what idiot said, or you can spend $3 for a simple toggle switch on the remote wire.

Yep...typically just a b50k pot. Peripheral has them too. Good control for around $15. Can't beat it. I usually break out the box part of the control. Then you can mount it just about anywhere. It only takes about 1" X .5" area behind the dash (plus cable room). ------------- The Flakman
