I have one S15L7 2 ohm model now running off a infinity 1211a  at about 854 watts RMS at 4 ohms

I plan on getting another S15L7 soon 2 ohm model but i cannot find an amplifier that does .5 ohm @ 2000 watts Rms and 4000 watts peak  could you please find one for me ?

OR

would it be better to just get another infinity 1211a amp to run the other sub at 854 watts RMS or  should i just go get (2) 4 ohm models and run it off a rockford fosgate T20001bd amp?

i have 2 batteries in the car now 1 deep cycle marine battery that does 1100 CCA and the stock one I also have a HO alternator (160 amp) my question is shold i get another battery if i get another amp or will this be enough?

any help would be appreciated thanks!

Kicker 2500 will do the power you need at 2 ohm     but they are very hungry for power

so your saying i should get (2) kx2500 amplifiers for (2) S15L7 2 ohm dvc subs  or run the subs some how so they equal 2 ohms ? (if so how would i wire them)

what do you mean they are very hungry for power do you mean the amplifers or the subs? because i already have 2 batteries so do i need another one of the optima yellow tops?

thanks

You would wire each sub to 4 ohm and then the 2 subs together to get a impedance of 2 ohm

The 2500.1 will opperate on 2 good batteries.    2 yellow tops and a good high amp alt would power it just fine.

does it make a differance if their wiered to have a impedance of 2 ohm's or .5 ohm because i found 3 amps that are .5 ohm stable :

Mmats D3500.05 2700 watts RMS @.5 ohm

MA audio hk 401sx  1800 watts RMS @.5 ohm

lanzar optil 12000d  around 1800 watts RMS @ .5 ohm

which amp would be best to last for a long time at high power ?
i mihgt just go with the 2500 because then im drawing less power
thanks

Your askin for trouble if you want to wire it up at .5ohms.   Yes you will get more power out of the amp at lower ohms, but it is more distorted rather than clear bass. Do as Jeffchilcott said. If your not going to listen and understand what others on this board tell you and have your mind made up, there is no reason to post.

The MMats amp is the only one that would be comparable to the Kicker 2500.1     But the mmats has to run at .5 to produce its power.

running at that low of an impedance are going to generate heat, and distortion even if it is rated to run that low.

The 2500 produces the power you need with you subs wired at 2 ohm.    Best bet in my oponion

thank you everyone im am going to purchase the kx2500 amplifier and run it to these subs.

what cu ft do you reccomend i have one now in a 4.5 cu-ft enclosure ported do you think it would make a audible difference if i went up to 6.0 cu-ft ported for each sub?

thanks again.

I am not a fan of the giant boxes kicker has on its specs.   I like to have a tight response and I have only found that with the l7 12's in about 2.25 cuft, or sealed at 2.5 cu ft

I know a few guys how have thier subs in 3.5-4.0 cu ft and I only find it good for listening to rap music. If thats what your going for then the box you have now is fine, if you make the box to big it will also reduce the power handling capaibilities of the woofer.   If you look in the Kicker manual is has the recomended power rating based on the size of the box.

All in All I would build a second box to match your first and see how you like it.

i have had the one S15L7 in a sealed 6 cuft enclosure and it didnt seem at all loud compared to the ported box i have now but when i had it in the sealed box the gain was only at aobut 40-60% of the way up so the sub itself was only seeing probaly like 300-500 rms do you think that the kx2500 will make it sound better at 6.0 cuft sealed because it will have over 1000 RMS going to it (if it helps i mostly listen to rap and some rock) and will the sealed enclosure be good for a low bass  (like in most rap)?

i have heard the term low and loud for ported boxes if i do go ported what frequency should i tune it to for daily driving ( i know most people say 33hz but this sub has a very low frequency response of 18 hz so should i go more toward the 33hz or the 18hz )?

and im am only building this box once because it is going to be built into the trunk (fiberglassed) and to put a new box in i would have to disassemble this box piece by piece (because it is being glued and all while in my trunk ) this helps because then i wont have to worry about people stealing it.

Where are you getting your frequency response?    I show an FS of 24.2

I would still get your tuning in the 30hz range or else you will still be very selective even playing rap music.   Most songs have frequency ranged of 30-40hz and some dip into the 20 hz range.     If you tune to low your response in general will lack on alot of songs, but if you tune to high, and do not use a low pass filter (although the KX amps have one built in) you could damage the woofer.

I would tune to about 32-34 hz, but the problem lies with WIN-ISD does not like the Kicker square woofers (anyone else noticed this?) So you might have o do some diging on exact demensions of port size, or use the calculator on here to figure the port size.

The Calc here is on the left hand tool bar under car audio.
