How would I make an amp see a 1 ohm load with 2, 4 ohm subs. I know people who do it with resistors in loudspraker designs with constant impedance networks but those networks only have 250-300 watts going through them. I'll be pushing about 3000. How do you do it and is it recommended.

Get 2 more subs                or replace the 2 you have with Dual Voice Coil 4Ohm

I was trying to avoid an upgrade.

like i am an idiot said, get 2 more subs or change the one that's cheaper the Amp or the 2 subs.

If your amp is a stereo amp, bridging it WILL present one ohm to it. (Bridging into 2 ohms is the same as one ohm per channel.)

As your amplifier information was not provided, I can't tell you whether this will be the case.

Also, why do you feel you MUST drop your amplifier's load to one ohm? Even if you have a mono amp, and the only load you can acheive is two ohms, two ohms will be LESS THAN 3dB difference in output than a one ohm load. Run it at 2 ohms, and be done. Your amp will run cleaner, cooler, and last longer.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Can I ask exaclty what you will be achieveing 3000 watts with?    What type of alt? how many batteries? 2 runs or 1/0?

What amp or Amps?   and to what speakers?
