I am a novice that needs some guidence on wiring an 8ohm sub to a 4ohm 150 watt amp.   Is this compatible?

Yes, that sub is compatible.  The amp is not a 4 ohm amp;  it has specifications measured at 4 ohms, that's all.  Divide the 4-ohm rated output by two to arrive at the output for an 8 ohm impedance load.  Example: 150 / 2 = 75
