How should I go about making my power wire for my amp a little bit longer? I don't really feel like rewiring it just for about a foot and a half. Can I solder a little bit extra on there or use a butt connector?

Yes, you can do either.  Just make sure you properly insulate your splice.  I find that good quality shrink tubing works best.

It will be very hard or impossible to solder a thick wire (unless you have the right equipment). Crimping some ring terminals on both ends seems to be the easiest choice.

Um...rural king has some really good connectors for adding a length of wire...has a rubber insulating boot also. Made of brass and has set screws to hold the wire down like on amps and such. Made for welding cable but welding cable is just power wire.

or look into marine uninsulated butt connectors made by ancor. they make them up 1/0. i splice 8 and 4 gauge all the time. finish up with heat shrink.
