Um...truthful ratings are amps that are CEA-2006 compliant

TRUTHFULLY? You are not going to find a REAL 1000 watt amplifier for $350.00 Now, for $600 to $800, the JL, and Eclipse DA7122 are a couple I can highly recommend, neither of which you should purchase online... Go to an AUTHORIZED DEALER, and purchase from a brick-n-mortar. You mention the Alpine, but that one is FAR outside your desired 350 price range, how did you even get that one involved in the recipe?

Yeah I agree with Haemphyst the rule of thumb that I generally try to tell people is that you should pay about 75 cents to a dollar per watt for a true rating

i would say for truthfull i would go with logic, i only paied $250 a 1820w amp from them, and i do believe that they were true on the wattage because i  took a friends 1500w sub(dont know what kind but since it was a friends it was easy to not care if it was killed or not) and hooked it up, well the sub died so i know the amp is putting out the wattage it saies, i have two of them running my 4 logic 12s which are the true wattage they were told to put out, so in all logic is a very truthfull company, and a very very cheap price since they are a no name product when it comes to audio for cars, but with their price and such great quality product i will always go with them from now on, plus their design to me is awsome.

I will recomend concepts I have sold  a few of their high power amps and they are cea complaint I believe, heres the link. Just a warning do not purchase any of them from ebay, a local cheap ass just got stung not once but twice on dead amps. Instead of spending $599 on a new on he's out almost a grand. Just FYI.....imo your aren't going to get anything thats worth a crap for 350 shipped.

Those subs are rated at 400rms each try the 810d from concept it will push them easy.....

Ummm, that's a 500w @ 4 ohm amp (800w @ 2 ohm). That 1200 watt rating is a peak number, not an RMS number. I think you should do a little more research into the SELLER at this point, rather than worry about the amp itself. If it really is CEA compliant, then it's a 500 watt amplifier...

The Concept amps are a kick butt inexpensive reliable amplifier. I also recommend the CD810 and the CD1210.

Try to find a Phoenix Gold Xenon 1200.1 (1200 continous watts @1-4ohm). It's a CEA-2006 compliant and should be around your price range.

Um...your friends sub was prolly 1500 peak for .3464 seconds and only 300 watts rms...don't look at peak ratings...also if your amp was set incorrectly and was clipping it could be putting out more power than rated...but dirty dirty power...I though we've been over this

not trying to open a large can of worms but CEA even though its the industry standard its flawed because you USUALLY cant get 14.4 volts to go to your amp its usually closer to 12.5.

how can it be 1200w continous at 1-4 ohms? if that were the case, why even run it at 1 ohm producing added heat and stress on the amp if 4 ohms can do the same thing? my guess is 1200 @ 1 ohm, not at 4.

CEA-2006 is just a standard way of testing amps for their output power. while alot of vehicles don't average 14.4 volts, there are some that do, usually the ones that are very much into car audio. my truck completely stock put out around 13.3 volts and after just upgrading the big 3 to 1/0 gauge wire, it averages around 14.6 at idle!

The power supply automatically regulates the voltage rails, so as to not produce too much current. By regulating the voltage rails, the output power remains the same, no matter what the load.

Personally, I dislike the idea, to me it shows an unwillingness to produce an amplifer that is capable of high current, and a "shortcutting" company. PG didn't USED to be this way, I was a fan years ago, but now? I'm not really so sure.

You can look at power acustic amps as well they are good bang for the buck.

Posted By: druidpagen
Date Posted: November 12, 2006 at 1:18 PM

yeah my power acoustic  TS960-4 is actually pushing more than the books RMS, not bad for 150 bucks new w/ warrenty.

for figuring actual power of an amp use ohms law. you can take your output voltage and the amps fuse rating to actually find how much real power you can achieve.

i usually go dow a volt when i do my calcs. my out put voltage was 13.8 so i used 12.8. you will end up underating your amp but just buy speakers with decent head room so you don't blow them.

i prefer to tell people my under rated watts than the rms or peak. i just feel better personaly when they say (wow thats loud and your only running 500 watts, that sounds way louder than my 1000 watt amp!) compared to (your running 960 watts? hmmm minds 1000 watts ha ha) it's pointless trying to explain rms, peak, and real wattage to a person who has no clue lmao!

Haem, correct me if I am wrong but at the start of this thread you praise the JL. Is it not regulated as well? Is there something I am missing?

Yes JL uses this same technology in their slash series amps...same output from 1.5-4 ohms

Also I've been around the ED forums for a lil while now and it seems like they've gotten their amp problems fixed.

Thier amps come with a 3 year warranty and if it blows just send it in and they'll fix it or send you a new one...from everything I've read over there their customer service is awesome now

Heard the mention of high power amps here what are they and how do they compare to mono amps. I've seen hifonics advertise power outputs of 1600 and 2000 watts int he range of $200 - $350. How good are these amps?

I don't recall "praising" it, at all... I recommended it (SOME of their amps - the A series, specifically) as a decent amplifier, with honest specifications. The amps they produce with a single power output rating, at whatever load, still fall under the category of "not a fan"... The company still "installs" shortcuts, making it not the best amplifier, IMO.

a 1600w mono amp is a high powered amp. high powered is just thta, alot of power. i wouldn't recommend hifonics for good quality. decent dollar per watt ratio, but low on the quality.
