I installed a radio on a 06 vue it has onstar at the time the person didnt mind not having the onstar but now he wants it to work with his aftermarkeet radio and there is no module available at the moment is there any way i might be able to add a handsfree speaker since it has a small amp built inand if so how do i go about i know where the onstar module is on the car what wires do i need to find i have the wiring schematich for that vehicle also any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you
well -
First- there is most likely an adaptor that'll get you an On-Star output...
Id try SoundGate / Metra / PAC
Someone will have it .. My guess .. its a LAN System. There is an adaptor from SoundGate thatll get you an Amped output for an External Speaker.
If its not a LAN System then its a Standard Class 2
Hope this helps ya
i called soungate and pac they do not have it for that vehicle also calle peripheral no luck
ok - well generally ---
The on star system runs thru the OEM Radio ... or the OEM Amp if equipped - (bose)
You might have to re locate the radio somewhere ..
Is it a LAN system ?
Or CLASS 2 ??
to be honest i relly dont know if its lan or class 2 and its not bose i belive its class 2
The Onstar system in the 2006 VUE is the same as in other GM vehicles. Anyones Onstar module will work as it is on the Class II data bus. The manufacturers only say they don't have one for it because they haven't yet tried it on the vehicle. The 12 pin plug at the radio has the pre-amp audio lines for the Onstar. Pink/black + and ORANGE / black is negative.

sparky
so if i get an onstar os-2 from pac it would work i just have to mess with the wire harnessand if so how do i got about it tanx precciate the help
I have nothing against Power Acoustik, but they do lie. Maybe not as much as some, but they do lie. Generally, the best way to tell if a company is lying is if they have MAX next to their power figures. Most good companies don't mess with max power figures. There are just too many good & bad companies (and middle of the road) to list out which ones to trust. You should definately be able to get a real 1000 watts for $300 though.

What is normal anyway???
