I'm working on a 93 Celica convertible, I installed a JVC headunit some time ago and I'm trying to get the door speakers working. I wired it up with a Metra harness and all that I have is dash and rear speakers. I understand there is a factory amp underneath the passenger seat and I'm assuming this amp drives the door speakers. Has anybody found any way to make them all work without completely rewiring the car?
did you try to hook up am amp turn on blue wire in metra harness otherwise best to rewire

I ususlly suggest running new wires. Factory amps always mess something up. If you have the factory tweeters too though, then you may want to use the amp. And yeah, try hooking up the blue wire if the harness has one. If not, then it'll take some figuring or schematics. Thus, it still may be easier to run new wires.

What is normal anyway???
Thanks for the replies. I bought a Metra integrator harness from Best Buy and took everything apart to hook it up, but the plugs were different. I was gonna look into it more, but then at 175,000 miles the car decided to start puking oil out of the crank seal. This combined with a faulty cold start valve, malfunctioning airbag system, & bad rack&pinion more than likely is gonna do the car in. So I just ended up taking the harness back and getting my money back.
Depending on if my Aunt decides she wants to put the $$ into the car and get it fixed I may tear back into it again and try to figure it out. More than likely the cost of the crank seal replacement is probably gonna send it up the road.
What a waist... that car is a nice start if you want a tuner... You dont see many of the early to mid 90's celicas done up to there potential.. I had a 96 celica.....
