hey guys, i was wiring some 8 gauge fosgate today and was touching the power wire to the amp, and it worked fine. then i took it off, and actually tightened but no power....i checked the fuse and pretty much everything i can think of, and nothing will work, i don't know if it's the amp or the power cable, but i have no power to the wire because we tried just touching it to the car to spark, but nothing. does anyone know what's going on?

check the fuse, chance's are your running a glass tube fuse inside of a holder with screw caps on each side right? i was installing a system one day, (brand new wireing kit) wired everything properly like i always do, but no power. i double check everything, it's all good and tight. the fuse was the prob, when i tighend down the end caps on the fuse holder it would seperate the only spot inside the fuse that was connected, even though it looked good.

You should never work on the vehicle's power system with the battery connected.  ALWAYS pull the fuse from the power cable and the battery ground connection.  Chances are your little "test" blew a fuse.  I have also seen amps blow this way.
