Ok here is the deal,  I have a customer in an FJ cruiser and she is a pain in my *ss.  We installed an alpine 9856 head unit with a diamond 400.1 and a diamond 400.4 amps.  Everything sounds incredible but...........On only two radio stations (104.3 and 93.3) when the bass hits and the volume is turned up the system sounds very staticky and like crap.  When the sub controll is turned down the stations come in fine no matter how loud the volume is.  I think they are just week stations, but since they are her "Favorites" she wont leave it alone.  I have tried everything i can think of to fix this problem.  Its not like this is my first instal, i have been doing this proffesionally for over four years now.  Everything checks out perfect.  tried regrounding the radio and battery.  Any I deas would be great.  Sorry this is so long.  Just frustrated!

If it does the same thing on other radio stations, I might suspect a loose antenna lead or bad mounting of the antrenna itself, or a bad antenna ground.  But if it only does this on those two stations and all other FM is OK, then that is ... just... weird.

Remember, after market h/u's are not sensitive as factory heads when it comes to radio reception.

I have a customer coming back tomorrow to possibly return a unit because he/she is not satisfied with the am reception, although it was worse with the factory headposted_image.

I suggest that the problem lies in the broadcasted signal, and that she is unfortunate to be partial to these two stations.  She might be reminded that the majority of peops can't distinguish this problem because their systems are not as accurate as hers.  A system of this quality deserves CD's, not radio.
