I just bought the Kenwood KDC - MP332 headunit for my beater car. Heres the problem. When Im listening to the radio, all is fine. Everything sounds great. When I play a cd, sound only comes out of the tweeters. both rear and front. I've tried everything on the headunit to fix this and nothing works. Is it possible its just a defective headunit?? THe car is a 97 Dodge Stratus. Thanks for any help.

That's what it sounds like to me. Go back to where you purchased it from and explain the problem. Offer to demonstrate.

It sounds like your car has a factory amp, and on the car harness you connected the power wire to it to the power antenna lead on the back of the Kenwood. If this is the case the factory amp is turned on when in AM/FM mode as a power antenna would be up, and typically when you play a CD the power antenna goes down (so if your factory amp is connected it would shut off). What I would do is figure out which wire on your Metra harness is connecting to the power antenna lead on the back of the HU, and take it off and splice it into the 12+ switched power wire (or amp turn-on wire if your HU has one).

To elaborate on the above post, disconnect the blue lead of the kenwood harness from the blue lead of the car's harness. then connect the blue/white wire from the kenwood to the blue wire of the car's harness.
