im looking at buying a Coustic 1600DB i don't know anything about this brand and im wondering if this is a good amp and if they are CEA 2006 compliant

They are CEA compliant. My good friend has an older 401DB I think thats what its called...but it puts out 400 watts rms at 2 ohms...solid amp man. It can be pushed hard all day without quiting...from my experiences, Coustic makes some pretty good amps.

Ya we got one running in the shop all day long, never had any problems with it running at 2 ohms all day. I agree, solid amp.

I think that Coustic is one of those brands that all too often gets overlooked, because they don't build for competition (majorly under-rated power figures or crazy low current capabilities) & they don't build cheap either (overinflated power figures or flashy looking crap). They are very much a middle ground amp that I think is what 90% of people actually need. My first amp was a Coustic back in 92. That amp still works to this day. I have since bought many coustic amps & they have been some of the most reliable amps I've ever had & their power figures are accurate if not conservative.
I recently set a friend up with a Coustic 401DB amp to run 3 12" Infinity Reference 4 ohm subs in a van & it was crazy loud. That's a 1.33 ohm load (lower than the 2 ohm suggested, not that I endorse such things ;) ). It hardly gets warm from it.
As a side note, that 1600DB is a Class-D amp, so it is more efficient than a normal (Class-B) amp & so will be easier on your vehicles electrical system.
