hey guys, I have a 2006 ford explorer xlt. My mids and highs are kicker RS56.2 components in all 4 doors pushed by a ZX850.4. I also have a KX2500.1 and two 12" Solo X's. I am about to have a box built for them, a local shop said they will build the box, double thick mdf, ported, and to take up my entire trunck area, this is roughly 4' x 3' x 3'. a couple questions, is 500$ a good price for that box? and what would these subwoofers sound like, i mean the builder is amazing so the box will be pretty awesome but is one 2500.1 enough? any input or tips would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks

$500 sounds abot right if you know hes is building a good box as for the subs kicker says the RMS is 2500 and if im correct the kx 2500.1 put out 2500 max, thats about half the power needed. i would say get more or bigger amps.

The solo-X can sound amazing if the box is built right...I am incredibally impressed by an X 18 around this area.....like said before if you can...get another 2500, but first and formost what have you done to upgrade the charging system?
You are going to need a high output alt and a nice battery to run this one amp alone! trust me that amp is very very power hungry, and please dont ask about caps, they will not make any power peroid

I second Jeff, Kicker products are awesome for spl I have 2 12" 05 L7's on a 1200.1 and that pulls alot of current somewhere around 120 amps or so, so definately upgrade at least the big three and probably get a HO alternator. also the 2500.1 is rated at 2500 max power but keep in mind that most kicker amps come with birth certificates that show their max power as quite a bit more for example actual max power on my amp is 1457W. Anyways as they said 2 would be better but your charging system needs to have some cajones.

ok well, i have the dual 2 ohm models of the subs, my amp puts out 2960 rms@ 2 ohms. but kicker amps are only stable down to 2 ohms, so if i was to add another one of the amps, i would have to run one to each sub getting only 1250 @ 4 ohms. so does that make any sense to get another one? and i am going to upgrade my big 3 wires to 0 guage kicker power wire, and add kinetik batteries. HO alternator needed also? thanks

hey i have a kx2500.1 pushing two 12" solo x subs. i knoew that this is only half of the subs rms rating but right now its all that i can afford. until i can afford another amp and HO alternator. will adding batteries do anything? because i know that it is not running at nearly 3000 watts, its not really that loud at all.. thanks

That amp will draw over 200+ amps to even get going with power. It is a real powerhungry amp, untill you fix that problem I woundt consider foing anything else
There is only one thing in a vehicle that makes power, and thats the alternator. I would look into a company like Irragi alts, powermaster, or High output alts. All 3 of the companys should but about $300-$400 for a 250 amp model

BIg 3 upgrade man for sure, then HO alt then xtra battery in trunk or close to amp w a few farad cap. The best situation I could think of. (0 g wire throughout of course)

alright, well im running the kx2500 along with a zx850.4 and another zx850.4 being added soon. I guess my plan is to get a HO alt, preferably around 300 amps, and then add two kinetik 2400 batteries in the trunk. sound ok? and does ANYONE know where i can get a good alt for a 2006 explorer?! i cant find one anywhere

well im working on getting an alternator. but for now at least, will two kinetik 2400's do ANYTHING? or none at all

They'll delay the alternator from taking a dump...but remember after the amps pull current from the batteries when the voltage drops the alternator has to charge up the batteries AND power the amps

I have two 12" Kicker Solo X subs, what amp should i use to power them? I currently have a kx2500.1 but it is not enough so im going to sell it. Im lookin for either one amp that will do 5000 watt RMS @ 2 ohms or 2 amps that will do 2500 watts @ 1 ohm a piece. I have the dual 2 ohm models. thanks

I posted to you before and I will say it again. You need to upgrade your alternator to even consider getting the power out of the amp you have. You have (2) KX2500.1's listed in your sig.........................
Upgrade your power system to even think about upgrading the amps

I know jeff, sorry i didnt mention. im in the process of getting a 240 amp iraggi alt. im also gonna do the starting battery a kinetik 200 and two 2400's in the back. big 3 as 0/1 gauge kicker and 2 runs of 0/1 from front to back. but once i get the alt..what do i do for the amps? which ones to go with?

well, I can say this...If you wait till CES then you might just have a single kicker amp to power the both of those subs.

I would give that amp a chance after you upgrade your electrical system. You might have a noticeable difference.
