at some point im looking into getting two dual voice coil 4 ohm mtx 9500's. I own a 93' Grand Cherokee Limited What would be best? -one 2 channel amp or two monoblock amps -one or two capacitors -4 or 2 or 1 gauge wiring To run through a distribution block is it better to run larger wire to the block or from the block?

- one mono amp. Easier to setup and use. - none. Upgrade the Big 3 and your alternator if you need to. - use the largest cable you can afford, but at least cable capable of 2X your amplifier's current draw - Larger cabel to a block. Be sure to use the proper size fuse or circuit breaker at the battery. ------------- Support the12volt.com

^^^^ Caps can and do have a purpose, the thing is to know when to use them and when not to. The large MTX mono amp is a great amp for this application, I've sold a couple of them here on Vancouver Island now. 0 guage wire on the power and ground is what you are going to need. Read up on the "What is a proper ground" sticky and "The Big 3" sticky as well as you are going to need to do both of these.

I would follow both Forbidden and DYohn' s directions and instead of a cap look at a dry cell battery because most times they are in the same price range but a battery is better. Optima yellow, kinetik, or Odessy are the best bets in this application.

I'd have to agree as well..don't worry about a cap. when everything is working perfect and all your wiring, charging system, battery are up to par..if you have any money leftover burning a hole in your pocket it can't hurt to add a cap if you want to..just don't expect to notice any noticable difference in the sound. A "stiffening" cap used for this purpose in theory is supposed to make up for any sudden loss of voltage in your wires due to heavy bass notes when the current demands are maxed. But if the wires can handle the current demands to begin with I can't see a cap doing anything significant. Now if your charging system is not up to task it needs to be addressed. No amount of caps or expensive deep cycle batteries will make up for that. -------------

definatly go with kinetik... they are the best bang for the dollar... for the same price as a yellow top you get 50% more reserve... and a little lower resistance..
