I have two kicker 12 inch 2006 Kicker L7's, Dual voice coil, 2 ohms each coil, I'm going to wire both speakers so the amp see a 2 ohm load and i'm going to be using a zx1500.1 with 1500 watts @ 2 ohms. Does this seem like it will work?

I see no reason why it wouldn't. I would series the coils on each sub making a 4ohm load each..then bridge them both in parallel to the amp for a 2ohm load. As with any setup adjust the gains properly, use the proper enclosure and the subs will last, you have plenty of power. -------------

i have 2 l7's also, i needed a amp for a few days so i rented a 950 watt kicker amp and the subs hit pretty hard, im sure your set up will be just fine...why not hook it up and find out?

Killer setup!

Clean power! that is the diffrence...if you set an amp properly then you can overpower a speaker untill it meets its mechinical limits, takes alot of time using an O scope to get it right before you quit blowing equipment. Thats how I run nearly 3500 per 10 inch sub in competition use ------------- 2009 0-1000 Trunk WR 154.0DB 2009 1001+ Trunk WR

Good answer Jeff. Back in my competition days I was running 1000w RMS to a single 12w6 in a ported enclosure. and it would only blow when I wanted it to.

lol...but its fun to watch how long subs will last when plugged into wall sockets...also how many watts would a wall socket (120V AC 60Hz) put out???
Ok I read the other post about it lol but I'm lazy.
How much power would a socket put out at 3 ohms??
Cuz the last old school JL 12W6 me and my friend fried lasted for about a full minute before locking up...thats pretty tuff for a sub rated at 300 watts

I answered that on the other post azn using ohms law....over 3000watts RMS at 4 ohms..over 6000w @ 2 ohms....12000 watts @ 1ohm @60hz..nah that wouldn't blow a speaker...lol

Still...master I'm lazy lol
I still can't believe how that sub survived that long on over 3000 watts rms in free air...I mean it was reaching xmax and wasn't making a whole lot of mechanical noise either...

I know it's amazing how so many woofers today can handle that free air. I did it with a new out of the box punch p2 and it lasted like a minute but it was jumping like a flounder out of water. but do it with like a stock 6.5 and.....ka POW!!! I love it...lol I also want to try it one day with a good sub in a ported enclosure..that would have to be loud as heck...3120 watts rms @60 cycles..thats insane. -------------

oh if you want to figure it out just use the ohms law formula P=E2/R E=110 x 110 which is 12,100... that is always the same for this case R= ohms load So @ 3ohms it would be 12,100/3 = 4033.33watts @60hz.....lol It lasted a minute? thats pretty darn good -------------
