Got the deck last year and love it till last few months. I installed with a friend of mine who does it for a living went smooth and clean. But now it shuts off randomly does it when listening to Ipod,cd,radio. It does not clear all memory or presets just turns off and a few seconds later turns back on?

I checked all wireing all grounds and such but now I'm at a loss

any ideas?

If its shutting off but maintaining memory it might be a bad accessory connection..even could be a loose fuse at the factory fuse panel..they can loosen especially people sometimes shove wires into them and it spreads the contacts..see this often.

Now if the wiring is good..we have 2 chances..1is the deck just needs a reset from a "glitch" try that..or 2..the worst thing..defective deck...If you suspect this have it bench tested before you send it for repair or replace it..never hurts to double check. If you don't have a test bench go to a car stereo shop and toss an installer 5 bucks to check it for you.

More than likely the flex cable that connects the face to the chassis of the radio.  Pioneer's lovely design flaw.  It's an 11 dollar part and as long as you're handy with a screwdriver doesn't take more than 15 minutes to replace.  I'll see if I can find my paper with the part number on it at work tomorrow.

Yeah his problem sound exactly like the way my old 8500 would act just before that cable failed completely.  By the way if you do ever make a 6x9 hole saw, I'll buy one off ya.  :)

Funny because someone really wanted to design one with me.

But I backed out..the way I look at it the only possible use would be perhaps if you massed produced 6x9 boxes..but I am sure those are CNC or stamped. even a router and jig by hand would be safer and probably just as quick.

But the danger of taking a 6x9 holesaw to a car door or rear deck..well I guess it would be funny if no one got too hurt but I detect a disastor..lol I am sure someone would mess up..like you know the guys that use 2'' screws to mount a siren.
