I just bought a 2007 Saturn Ion3 Sedan. It was mandatory that I have OnStar so, I have an OnStar antenna. The service dept was telling me that the OnStar antenna doubles as the XM/Sirrius Satellite antenna for cars with that option but they had never heard of anyone using their own XM receiver with the existing antenna and didnt know if it could be done.

during the weekend, I pulled down the headliner to see the underside of the OnStar antenna. As expected, it has the two typical satellite antenna connections on it. I'm thinking that I could get a satellite antenna cable (Terk, among others, makes extension cables that should work for this) and run it from my receiver to that antenna and the antenna should pick up.

Has anyone tried this before?

It has been my experience that the Terk XM antenna lead connectors are different than the GM ones.
