I recently bought the Rockford Fosgate punch 3 12'' DVC 2ohm sub  (That was a mouth full), and an MTX box from crutchfield. What I didn't notice when i bought the box was the volume inside the box. the volume inside the box is 1.2 ft3.  The recommended volume for the sub is 0.75 ft3.

What I want to know is:  1) what problems with sound am I going to run into when using the box? 2) What would you guys do?

TIA

well the main problem with your sound is going to be the fact that you bought a punch sub. ooooooh burn lol. those subs are known for their cheap plastic cones cracking. to answer your question though, you are going to see more boominess than a tighter sound. you will get more low end response too. you wont need as much power to push the sub either.

Just glue in some closed cell foam blocks....volume divided by 1728 equals ft^3

So besides the booiness, there should be too much of a problem? besides the cheap componets that the sub is made from.

no, you will be fine. it will not damage the sub in any way.

Is the box sealed or ported? For ported box that is a proper volume.

It is not too far off of the recommended enclosure you will notice a little lower frequency responce but not much...
