hi guys. i was wondering if you could suggest any head unit with a good clear monitor touch screen that has a hard disk drive. our choices here in the philippines are very limited so i was wondering if you help me out. i plan to order it and have it shipped from the U.S. unless its available elsewhere. your help would really be appreciated.  i am into sound quality set up so was hoping to get a real good sound producing head unit but at the same time not reaching $1000! hoping that it would just be around $700

The only two that have HDD and monitor I know of are:Pioneer AVIC-Z1 and Eclipse AVN5495,Eclipse AVN7000.
Any of those will run you from $1,700 to $2,500 new. Even on the net from authorized dealer.

whoa. i dont think i can afford that much. are there any better choice aside from my first option is kenwood ddx 8017? my budget is around $600~$800 only. i dont need a navigation system since we dont have that technology here. btw, thanks mike12volt for your reply.

Check-out Cardomain.com, they may have something within your budget. Kenwood DDX 8017 Excelon would cost over $1000 new. I have 6019 and it does the work for me. You can record your music or video on a dvd-r and play it for a long time, if that is not enough, you can plug-in a cd changer or mp3 player to it.

really? thanks for the heads up man. im just looking for a 2-din multimedia head unit. looking for something with big touch screen, sound quality audio controls, play dvds, etc. features i could find in the ddx-8017, but i was hoping there was something as cool and functions-packed in the alpine roster.. and something no over $800 hopefully.. any suggestions sir?

I see nothing wrong with 2v pre-amp hu. All you have to do is get good rca cables and good amp for it.

Plus the pulse touch on the alpine is really cool, kinda feels like your pressing on jello. Its packed with alot of features for the price.
