i have 1 kicker S15L7 and 1 zx1500.1 the gain on the amp is at 3/4 the boost is at 1/2 and the x-over was at 3/4 (out of 200hz) and sub sonic filter was on the sub is the dual 2 ohm model wired in series to get a 4 ohm load it was in a 4 cu-ft box ported enclosure. volume was at 30/50 2v preouts.
if the amp can only put out 750 rms and the sub can take 1000 rms why did the voice coil # 1 blow ? my x-over set wrong? clipped signal? what happened?
i know it is the voice coil because 1. i smelt burning before it stoped 2. it had a 2ohm load going to the amp 3. voice coil 2 has 0 ohms impedince.
i would like to know what i did wrong because i plan on getting another one soon to replace this one and do now want this happening again until then i will be running 2 S12L7 could somone please tell me where i sould set my amp for the 2 12's so i dont blow those

The short answer is improper amp settings. Do a search on gain setting and start there second off the crossover should probably be set lower just for reference my subwoofer crossover is set at 80 Hz at 12Db. even if the amp is only rated at 750 RMS if the gains were set improperly it could be sending a clipped signal at close to double that power.

most likely clipped signal...bass boost isn't very friendly...if the gain was set correct and say you dialed in 3db of boost...at that frequency the amp would be trying to push out double to power...6db - 3 times the power = clipping...correct me if I'm wrong.
If the gain is set correctly there really is no need for a bass boost knob
