I have a pioneer 9800bt in a 94 vw gti. I'm using a mtx 5 channel amplifier and have severe engine noise coming from my mids and highs. I have grounded the shields of the rcas coming from the unit as well as having ground loop isolators on the rcas as well. I was just wondering if anyone has run into this problem before with this unit. I've had this happen on some other pioneer units like the z-1 and n1 but never with this one any insight on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Sorry with grounding the sheilds and gli's the engine noise has reduced but is still noticeable
You can also try grounding the rca shields at the amp, and running a jumper wire from the amp ground to the head unit ground. Also check your factory ground cables and battery terminals.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
thanks for the response i grounded the shields at the amp before and no change but i haven't checked my headunit ground that was going to be my next step
Do a search on this issue. You will find out that 98% of the cure that will be talked about is to replace the pioneer deck. I ran into this myself a couple of months ago. The pioneer deck have a serious design flaw.....I took out MY pioneer (in a simular set up) and it was quiet as a church mouse.
