I have a 2002 avalanche. I'm installing mb quart psd 216 component speakers in the front and back. Where do you feel are the best locations for the tweeters? Lower doors (right below woofers)? Upper doors (little above woofers-stomach level)? or pillars (right next to ears)? I've heard that closer to the ears the better, but I don't want to go deaf! What do you guys think! Thanks

the best location is in the dashboard,in the corner and you can angle the tweter to centre spion for get better imaging.....placement is very important if you are mobile audiophile...:)

So for the front... you say for me to put them in the corner of the windshield area on the dash facing the rear view mirror. Right? Is it the place where the 2003 chevrolet trucks have the factory tweeters? Would they be bouncing off the winshield? What about the rear speakers? Thanks for helping

yes,facing for the rear view mirror.But you must trial and error again for best imaging because your dashboard and cabin acoustic. I don't know about chevrolet 2003 tweter location,bcz i don't know about the chevy interior. Rear speaker is normal placement,at the factory place if have,the important is only you must try for bridged mono the rear speaker,i found the rear speaker is very help front stage sound reproduction if i configure the speaker cable in mono(like sub). I would advise keeping the tweeters as close to the woofer as possible...above or maybe in front of the woofer itself, and aimed properly... are the psd tweets anything like the qsd tweeters? I find that I prefer the qsd tweeters low, because to me they are kind of bright...I dont like that in my face... are you doing a custom install with fibreglass kick panels or pods?

The psd tweeters are similar to the qsd. I have locations for the woofers, just not the tweeters. The factory front speakers were separate components, so I can use the factory locations for the front tweeters (right above woofers). I was just wondering if there is a better location for them besides factory. However, the rear speakers were coaxial, not component. So I need to locate an area for the rear tweeters. Should I just put them as close to the woofer in the door as possible? They may be almost 1.5-2ft away from the woofer. is that ok? Thanks to both of you for helping. Any more advise from yall or others would be great!

I would say mount them in the corner of your side windows on the sail panel (witch will be the panel that your side mirror is located).....mount them on the other side. That way it is closer to your ears and not to far away from the midbass driver and very good imaging if the tweeter can swivle.

well, stock locations are almost never ideal...most cars arent designed around their audio systems, heh...you would really be better off as far as sound quality is concerned to build your own fibreglass enclosures, for the fronts especially...but if you arent into these kind of intensive modifications, the factory tweeter location will be as good as any probably... when I asked about psd and qsd tweeters being similar, I meant in sound, not size...do they sound alot alike?

Thanks for helping. As far as qsd vs psd. They sound similar, but the qsd do produce a cleaner sound. I'm not really interested in going too custom. I don't want to bother with custom enclosures. What about the rear tweeter locations? Thanks again for everyones input. I'm considering it all. Please keep it coming!

Mount them on the panel that is between the rear and front side windows.

you typically dont want alot of tweeter action coming from behind you, I would probably just not bother with th tweeter and run the woofer full range... that is my personal opinion, tho, and I have NEVER had rear speakers...I have taken them out of vehicles because I believe in a strong front stage and believe Surround Sound is for Home Theatre...so I may not be the guy to ask here, lol...
