I am installing a system in a 04 Dodge Ram 1500. I have the following items:  Kenwood 617 DVD head unit,  Kenwood 10GB Music Keg, Infinity 7541a 4ch, Infinity 611a 2 ch, two sets of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's for the doors and two Infinity Perfect 10 subs.  The problem is I did a test run with just the 7541a running the doors last night and it was obviously drawing more that the truck could give. (lights dimming)  this is without the sub amp running.  Question is, what is the easiest way to correct the problem?  Optima Yellow Top?  Upgrade to Big 3?  Capacitor?  If capacitor, how big and what are good brands for the money?  Thanks.

Did you have the vehicle running while testing the amp? When is the last time you had your battery serviced or replaced? Have the battery and alternator checked. places like autozone, and pep boys will do it for free. When work from there.Adding a cap would do nothing right now but put more of a strain on your electrical system.

Upgrade the Big 3, and see if that helps, if not upgrade battery under hood...Truck should have a big enough alt to power the system.

Forget the cap.

The truck was running when I tested it.  It belongs to a buddy who is in Iraq.  I keep it for him and start it now and then but it has not been driven much in the last 6-9 months.  I am leaning towards a low or bad battery.  Is the Optima Yellow top the battery of choice?
