what is the importantce to the dba spec? i remember reading a thread a while back that talked about it, but i could not locate it

dbA means the sound pressure reading is "A-weighted." A-weighted readings are filtered to simulate the natural response curve of the human ear. It is not a very accurate way of representing the performance of a piece of gear, but it is sometimes useful to predict how loud a full-range output will sound to the average listener. ------------- Support the12volt.com

so if something has a 94 bda rating vs a 104 dba, what is a beter number?

its just a random question if anything, i was reading a post somewhere that talked about the db ratings, and i notice someone was talking about a zapco amp and its db rating and why it was so much beter because of its rating, so i guess the 2 things made me wonder.........

Sounds like you are now talking about S/N or signal to noise ratio, which is measured in decibels (db) but is completely different from a dbA number. What exactly are you talking about? ------------- Support the12volt.com

It's a measure of the amount of noise produced in a system. Higher S/N numbers are better. What specs are you trying to compare? Please give me an example. ------------- Support the12volt.com
