bass amp shutting off

I've been trying to help my nephew with his stereo, and his bass amp keeps shutting off. He's running 2 amps, the other for his high's. The subs are the fosgates, 400 rms 2ohm dvc. the amp is the Alpine MRP-M650. I series wired each sub, the paralleled 'em both. so the amp should be running at 600 rms @ 2ohms, but keeps shutting off. i'm thinking it could be power, he he's running a 4guage setup, 80amps at the battery, and 60 each at the distro. i thinking about getting a bigger fuse and fuse holder for the battery..anyone agree?

Nope, that shouldnt fix it.
I would check the ground. If it is loose or not making good contact the amp could overheat and cause it to shut down into protect mode.
Are there any lights on the amp when it shuts off?

is he runnin 3 amps all together or one for bass and one for highs and how many subs

No lights at all when it shuts off. I also forgot to mention that when 1 sub is hooked it, its fine.. When he wires the second sub, it plays for a bit, then shuts off. The amp will not turn back on until the second sub is unhooked.

Just two amps. one for bass, the other (4 channel infinity amp) for his high's.

sound to me like you have the wrong load

Well it's a mono amp, but it seems like it's not stable when it receives a 2 ohm load. But at the same time I don't wanna tell him it's a bunk amp, and have him go replace it, and it does the same thing all over again.

measure all the coils on the subs and make sure they all measure the same.

Yes, sounds like either the load is too low and/or the gain is too high.  Also possible is the second sub (or the wiring to it) is shorting out.

im thinking its the setting on the amp, does it have bass boost?
