wiring subs & amp

I'm installing a system in my new car this week, 02 Dodge Stratus R/T, (Yes i know the infinity system will be a bear to deal with)

I have 2 Kicker CVR 2ohm DVC subs and just picked up a sony XMD9001GTR amp, the subs are wired in series for 4 ohm resistance, but i'm unsure as to how i'd wire everything together. The amp is classified as mono output, but there's 2 sets of speaker outputs. Should i change the subs to parallel for 1ohm imp. and wire them to the amp like that, or stick with the 4ohm series?

I doubt that amp is one ohm stable, so I would stick with the 4 ohm. Plus it will have less stress on your amplifier letting you play your music cleaner and cooler for longer.

the amp has 2 speaker outs though, how do i wire the subs to the amp then?

i'm not trying to question your intelligence, just digging for info.

I see 2 plausible options

1. Subs at 4ohm total impedance(each) , wired in parallel into a single terminal on amp = 2ohm imp. on one amp terminal

2. subs at 4ohm total impedance, wired individually to their own terminals on amp = 4ohm imp on each terminal or (possible) 2ohm total on both amp terminals

curse the lack of an edit button, its 4 and 2ohm stable. definitely not 1ohm

There is no way you can get a 4 ohm final load on the amp with your subs...there are two sets of terminals for ease of wiring.

If you wire each sub in series then to a pair of terminals like in option two the amp is still seeing a 2 ohm load...the terminals are paralleled internally.

Your fine with the 2 ohm load

So option 2 of mine is the way to go? keep the subs (2 ohm DVC), wired as 4 ohm, and just connect them individually to the amp

Yes and that'll let you get maximun power outta the amp...just make sure to properly set your gains
