I'm in the planning stage of building a simple sealed enclosure for a infinity kappa. Infinity recommends a 1.0cf enclosure loosly stuffed, but winisd suggests a 2.28cf box. Which will give me the best results?

Apparently WinISD is working with some errant data.  The manufacturer's suggestion for this sealed box should be about right for car audio.

Well, it depends on which Infinity we're talking about. I know the 12d VQ is around 2.7 in WinISD, and it's right.

It appears that with an input of 350 watts, the cone excursion could exceed Xmax with the larger air volume.  The green line in the chart below represents a loosely stuffed 1 cu ft volume;  the yellow line shows excursion with 2.22 cu ft.  Xmax is exceeded from 40 Hz down.

Even though this is less of a flat response than the larger volume, the smaller box protects the voice coils at high SPL.  The response is still very much in line with the appropriate response for car audio.

Here is the parameter database as it should be seen by WinISD Pro:  kappa2.jpg
