i have the 4 12's and my friend has the 10's but the problem that im having is that right now they are hooked up to a ma audio hk401sx which only put out 650 rms at 2 ohms, but the problem is that the gain is turned up a little over half way, maybe at 2 o'clock, and the bass boost is up about a quarter of the way and the subs will start to distort when i try to turn it up.  i dont know why they are doing that either, but i do have another hk401sx  so that i could run 2 subs to each amp and have a 1 ohm load. the amp puts out 1200rms at 1 ohm.  do you think that would help?   or would that just make them distort even more?

i kno the amp i have doesnt put out anything like it says it should, but im sure that the 1200 rms that they are saying it is, is at least 800 which is more than enuf to power 2 subs.

Four 12's should be louder, esp in a ported box. That is, if the box is done correctly.

if u have enough currenty run all 4 of those subs in parallel and drop that amp to .5 ohm that is what it is designed for. it will make 1800rms no problem...

4 12"s have more surface area and air movement than 3 10"s. the 12"s should be louder especially since they are also ported. power is a big factor as well though.

but it is a daily driver, there isnt a amp out there that i could run at .5 ohm all day long.  the amp i have says that it is stable to .5 ohm but i know it isnt becuse i have already blown one in about a month from running it at .5 ohm

now the question is, should i run both ma audio hk401sx's and run 1 amp to 2 subs making a 1 ohm load at 1200rms or should i just go out and buy a diffrent amp? somethin like 1000/1 or i was thinkin of somethin like a earthquake phd5000 and not using all the power from the amps.
