Im looking for amp recommendations to drive one 10' Kicker L7 4ohm model (DVC). I want to get an amp that utilizes the full potential of the sub. Willing to spend between $300-500 on the amp. I can probably get a Kicker kx-800.2 for $300 from a friend, but curious to hear what you guys recommend.

$300 for the 2002 model 800.2 is kinda high priced. You could pick up a brand new ZX1000.1 from kicker for about $400 I believe
For that sub you really would only need the ZX750 and that should be about $300-$325 for a brand new amp

These are the wrong stats for this sub. Its the 2ohm model (dvc, 1ohm parallel or 4ohm series.)
some additional stats on the sub (sensitivity: 85.4 db, 600w max handling.
jeff, do you still recommend the 750.1?

no I wouldnt, because all the new kicker mono amps are only 2 ohm stable.
The Zx850.2 would be 850WTMS at 4 ohm, so that would be a decent choice, and shouldnt be much more then the old 800.2 your friend is trying to sell you

well there is one on ebay for 262 shipped still factory sealed, so I wouldnt spend over about 200-225 used.
I just would much perfer to see you buy something new with a warantee...if you are thinking about upgrading in the future and do really have a budget up to $500, then the ZX1500.1 would be a really really nice amp to go with
750@4ohm 1500@2 ohm
