What is the easiest way to install a new head unit on a 93' 7 series with factory amp? (i've never installed just a head unit in any bmw without adding a new 4 channel amp to run everything) metra lists a 70-8590 harness, can you feed hi-level into the factory amp? or is there a different harness? and metra also lists a 99-9001 dash kit, do you even need that? the factory radio looks like the same size/style as 3 series where you dont even need a kit.

i believe that year you could integrate into the factory amp. the 70-8590 is for non amplified systems, the 70-8591 is for amplified systems, both plugs fit the same the only difference is the 70-8591 has rca's on the speaker leads so you can give it a low level signal. you can try a 70-8590 and listen to how it sounds and see how quick it distorts, if you have problems just solder some rca's to the speaker leads and plug away, as for the 99-9001 i believe it is a snap kit for 2 shaft radio's, this is not needed as that year bmw should be single din. you will need an antenna adapter a 40-vw10. other wise it should be pretty straight forward.
