well I had this problem for awhile... well every once in awhile my audio would cut in and out and i figured it was just a speaker wiring problem or sumthing so i ignored it since it always came back on after awhile. The other day when I was driving to school my audio started cutting out again and then it came back and worked for a couple more mins but i could smell somthing burning smelt like wire but not sure. and then all the sudden my cd player shut off and since then it wont turn on. so then i turned my neon light bar on and all i could see was smoke.. then today i took the deck out and looked and the fuse was broke so i replaced the fuse today and the second i plugged the it back in the fuse started smoking and blew out again. (i didnt even have the truck turned on yet)

anyone know whats wrong?!

(sorry if its kinda jumbled around i posted on another side nad i just copied it over)

did you look for shorts?
how is it grounded?
what kind of car? what kind of cd player?

I never looked for shorts.

I got a 1987 Chevy S10, and its Pioneer DEH-6700MP, i think its grounded to the firewall or at lease after Bestbuy installed it there was a new wire there.

If you do have speaker problems, do not ignore them, because they can/will cause damage to your deck. If the fuse is on the wire harness, check the yellow wire for any exposed wire strands that could be touching metal. If you see none, there's an internal short inside the deck. Take it back to Best Buy and see what they'll do for you.

If the fuse mounted to the chassis of your radio is blowing don't waste your time checking the yellow wire for frays. The problem is one of 2 things number 1 and the most likely in your situation is a shorted speaker output IC What kind of radio is it? Number 2 cause of that problem is a shorted Reverse polarity protection diode, this will only happen if your power and ground were reversed with a larger than original fuse in place. Since the speakers were giving you trouble I would look into that.
